In cooperation with us, DFI-Geisler, which supplies table tops to large parts of Europe, has invested in a fully automated plant, which we have delivered and put into operation.

According to DFI-Geisler's CEO, Lars Langkjær, this has set in motion an extensive automation and digitalisation of production, which aims to equip and prepare the company for further growth:

"In Scandinavia, we are the leading manufacturer of kitchen worktops, and therefore our machinery must naturally match our position in the market. That's why we've just invested heavily in automating and digitalising production in collaboration with Nicholaisen, so we're ready for the ambitious growth plans we have for the coming years," he says.

The investment helps to future-proof production to create significantly more efficient production and to produce more sustainably, as well as to create the best working conditions for their employees.

DFI-Geisler has worked with us to replace several machines that were more than 30 years old with the new system, which is much less energy-intensive. In this way, the company achieves a significant reduction in its climate footprint, which DFI-Geisler is very keen to reduce. At the same time, it will be possible to produce more worktops per day in the future, while the new plant also means reduced costs and greater flexibility.

"We are very happy to be part of the development of DFI-Geisler into a modern and future-proof tabletop factory. In addition to supplying and implementing the plant that automates all processes from raw board to finished edge and milling, we have also acted as a kind of external PTA department. Therefore, we have not only advised on the choice of machine solution, but also helped to assess where it made the most sense to make a digital conversion and automate the processes, explains Bo Brun.

From the very beginning of the project, we have been advising on the project - from analysing the business case of two different systems for the gluing of the table tops to getting the MES system into production, which is used to track and document the transformation of raw materials into finished table tops via barcodes.

"It has been really good to have Nicholaisen involved in the project, so we could invest in solutions based on data, calculations and assessments from external experts. At the same time, we have been able to draw on their expertise in running the MES system into production so that we can measure production performance in the future, giving us a much better overview and insight into where we can improve. It has given us a super boost on the digital front, which we can now build on," concludes Lars Langkjær.
